What did you bring for appraisal?    “I brought a brass kerosene lamp with a lamp shade, although I am not sure if the shade belongs to this lamp.  I figure they [the appraisers] should know.”

Tell me about this item and why it is special to you:  “This was my grandfather’s and has been passed down to me.  It was made in the U.S.A. at the turn of the century.  I would like to know more about, if the appraisers can help.”

What were the auctioneer’s comments? “This is an unusual oil lamp with a candlestick shape to it.  I am not really sure if the shade belongs to this piece.  The lamp probably originally had a glass globe on it.”

What was his appraisal of your item?  About $75 as is.

How do you feel about that?  “I am pleased with the appraisal.  I was just curious if they would know something more, but they didn’t.”

Do you have any plans for your item? “I definitely plan to keep it.  It was my grandfather’s.”
