Here's the Latest Scoop on the Creamery on Main

Opening should be next week and Kao and his team are finalizing offerings and suppliers.

If all goes well, the much-talked-about should be open for business before the end of next week, according to owner Bill Kao.

What customers encounter on opening day will be slightly different than the plan Kao originally detailed for the Emmaus Patch when he announced his plans to put an ice cream shop into the former location of .

For example, since a hood system is not yet installed in the building, bagels will not be a menu option for a little while.

However, Kao is excited to introduce the Emmaus community to a west-coast-style “cereal bar” offering 15-20 different cereals. In addition, he will offer muffins, Danishes, and other bakery items along with yogurt parfaits made fresh each morning.

Kao said he has also changed the Creamery’s coffee supplier. “We're working with Caribou Coffee now, for the regular, decaf and five to 10 different flavors,” Kao said.

In addition, he was excited to share the news of the “all-you-can-eat salad bar,” which will be in-house or take-to-go.

“That was the big hurdle to have the health inspector approve the concept and he did,” Kao said.

Kao’s other business, the popular , recently suffered a fire and burglary, which are both still under investigation.

Trying to look at the bright side of the situation, Kao said he hopes the Creamery on Main will gain a few of the customers who might have frequented the other Countryside location.

He's says he’s keeping his chin up.
