Craving Quality Greek Food? Head to Yianni's Taverna

I kept hearing good things about Yianni's Taverna, so I finally decided to venture into some authentic Greek cuisine.

First of all, the architecture and the décor are pretty awesome. Among dozens of blue chairs are large brick pillars, Grecian columns surrounded by tapered fabric, shelves of copper plates, and paintings of Greece. It really gives you a nice dining experience, and our waiter was pleasantly knowledgeable in recommending some of his favorite dishes.

I was very impressed with the extent of the menu. It boasts many authentic dishes like Avgolemono, an egg-lemon soup, Moussaka, a layered dish of potatoes, beef, and vegetables, and Pastitsio, a baked noodle dish (which was delicious). They have a variety of Souvlakis and Gyros, which are their house specialty, and a long list of fresh seafood dishes (including a section offering whole fish). And if that's not enough, there are local favorites like Chicken Marsala and Scampi.

Just try not to fill up on the complimentary bread and olives before the main course.

My meal:  A strawberry-basil mojito (the day’s drink special) and swordfish with zucchini, peppers and rice pilaf. Having never had swordfish before, I all but licked the plate clean, but I have to give it a 4/5 because I never got my rice pilaf.
