Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Nougat Crunch Recalled

Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Nougat Crunch Ice Cream has been recalled by Unilever and removed from shelves because the product contains peanuts or tree nuts, an undeclared allergen, and it is not identified on the label, according to a press release from Giant Food Stores.

No illnesses have been reported to date, but people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts or tree nuts may run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The following product is affected by this recall:

• Pints of Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Nougat Crunch Ice Cream, UPC 7684020899

The affected product has the following date codes printed on the bottom of the pint:

The product should be thrown away or brought to any Giant. A full refund is available with a receipt of purchase.

Symptoms of food allergies usually appear within a few minutes to two hours after a person has eaten a food to which they are allergic.

Reactions can include:

• Hives
• Flushed skin or rash
• Tingling or itchy sensation in the mouth
• Face, tongue or lip swelling
• Vomiting and/or diarrhea
• Abdominal cramps
• Coughing or wheezing
• Dizziness and/or lightheadedness
• Swelling of the throat and vocal cords
• Difficulty breathing
• Loss of consciousness
