Two Celebrated Guitarists: One Stage

Don't miss this performance at The Sellersville Theater next week.

Even though Musikfest ends this Sunday, have no fear! There’s another great musical opportunity two days later. On Aug. 16, The Sellersville Theater will present Albert Lee and John Jorgenson: two incredibly talented guitarists who have played with some of the most renowned artists during their careers.

Albert Lee (also a singer and piano player) grew up in London with a father who was a musician. He began playing guitar when he was 14 and by 16, he dropped out of school to play full-time. After he moved to Los Angeles in 1974, he was asked to join Emmylou Harris’s Hot Band, which featured other musicians like Ricky Skaggs and Rodney Crowell. Lee then worked with Eric Clapton for five years and played with The Everly Brothers for more than 20 years (and was responsible for their 1983 reunion concert). He now tours regularly with Hogan’s Heroes and has been voted Guitar Player Magazine’s “Best Country Guitar Picker” five times.

John Jorgenson, a multi-instrumentalist, also came from a musical family. His mother was a piano teacher and his father was a college music professor. Jorgenson began playing music professionally by the age of 14. He is a pioneer of the American gypsy jazz movement and is a founding member of the Desert Rose Band and The Hellecasters.  Jorgenson won the Academy of Country Music’s “Guitarist of the Year” award three years in a row and has played with artists like Elton John, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Patty Loveless and Roy Orbison.
