Local 'Big Bang' Actress Kate Micucci Gets Her Own TV Show

A cable channel has ordered scripts and pilots for a new TV comedy starring Nazareth-area native Kate Micucci.

The show biz career of Nazareth area native Kate Micucci is taking off this year with her recurring role on "The Big Bang Theory" and now the possibility of her own TV sitcom.

Cable network IFC has ordered eight scripts and three pilots of a show called "Garfunkel & Oates" based on the musical-comedy duo that features Micucci (Oates) and Riki Lindhome (Garfunkel), according to a Hollywood Reporter story.

Micucci currently voices the main character of an IFC animated series called "Out There."

Micucci posted on her Facebook page:

"Kate expands her powers over IFC shows with an upcoming pilot starring Garfunkel and Oates!"

Born in New Jersey and raised in Bushkill Township, Micucci appeared in five episodes of "Scrubs" and has had guest roles on "Raising Hope," "Malcolm in the Middle," "'Til Death" and "How I Met Your Mother."

Micucci, a 1998 graduate of Nazareth Area High School, has appeared in 10 movies.

Micucci led Nazareth Borough's annual kazoo parade in 2010. The following year, she stopped by the Memorial Library of Nazareth and Vicinity for story time (she even broke out her ukulele—the same one she played on “Scrubs”).
