Cheryl Wheeler to Bring Folk and Fun to Listen Live Music

Folk artist Cheryl Wheeler will be performing both her poetic and comedic tunes this weekend.

This Saturday, will be hosting Cheryl Wheeler – a woman who is not only an American folk singer and songwriter, but a comedian as well.

Since 1986, Wheeler has released 10 albums that include songs she’s written about relationships, her time on the road, and her New England surroundings.  Some have been covered by artists like Dan Seals, Peter, Paul and Mary, Garth Brooks, Bette Midler, and Kenny Loggins. But in addition to her heartfelt songs, Wheeler has also written a number of funny songs that tell stories of everyday happenings like plane flights, real estate, and potatoes (one of my personal favorites). Her Web site states, “Comic-Cheryl comes on like Groucho-in-a-housecoat; a fiercely everyday woman with a barbed-wire tongue.”

At her live performances, Wheeler brings a casual, relaxed persona to the stage.  She is usually dressed in comfortable clothes and sitting on a chair with just her guitar and a microphone. Her vocals are strong, but soothing and her storytelling and interaction with the audience (along with the occasional witty melody) make her shows enjoyable for everyone.
