Unsettled Conditions Set to Return

Tranquil conditions will hold on for one more day before more unsettled weather conditions take hold throughout the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.  Temperatures through the period will average near to slightly below normal while showers will be a constant and growing threat.

Clouds will slowly increase today as the high pressure system exits out into the Atlantic Ocean.  Winds will develop from the south and southwest at 5 to 10 mph as a result.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 80's for highs for much of the region, mid to upper 70's over Long Island.

Tonight, the clouds will continue to increase with isolated showers towards morning.  The showers will be capable of brief heavy downpours.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the lower to mid 60's for lows.

Tomorrow, a cold front will slowly approach the region with period of showers and isolated thunderstorms by the afternoon and evening.  A wave of low pressure will develop along the cold front leading to widespread showers through Thursday.  Winds will slowly back from the south to the northeast at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60's for lows and lower to mid 80's for highs.

A series of disturbances due to a back door cold front will keep scattered to variable cloud and isolated to widely scattered showers in the region Friday on through Monday.  Temperatures will range from the mid 60's for lows and upper 70's to lower 80's for highs.
