Name: Jeff Potts
Where do you live?
"I currently live in Emmaus. I grew up in a small North Jersey town where HBO did a lot of filming for its 'Sopranos' TV series. I worked in Manhattan for 10 years prior to my transfer here."
What is your occupation?
"I am a general manager for Compass Group North America. I run on-site corporate dining services for corporations. I also have been working for the Borough of Emmaus for the past three years as an auxiliary police officer and up until recently have been a firefighter for Emmaus for the past five years."
What is your training?
"I went to the Ohio State University and North Hampton for Hotel Restaurant Management. I also have over a dozen various certifications from the Pennsylvanian State Fire Academy."
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
"What I find rewarding about all the work I do is serving people. The immediate gratification of fulfilling a person’s need is important to me. I guess it was how I was raised, to always honor thy neighbor."
What is most challenging about what you do?
"As an Emmaus police officer, seeing that everyone goes home safe at the end of every day is the immediate challenge. Communication is also challenging in both of my businesses since I deal with such a wide demographic of people."
Tell us what you love about Emmaus.
"Growing up in a fast-paced, superficial North Jersey city, and my wife growing up on Long Island, N.Y., Emmaus is a refreshing place to live. Emmaus is quiet. Emmaus is clean. Emmaus is a close-knit community that supports its residents. I love it."
What do you do in your spare time?
"In my spare time, I love to cook, ride my Harley, play music [guitar, drums, bass…with my children and friends] and stay physically fit with my children and for my children."
Tell us something interesting about you that people might not know.
"I love my life, my wife, Monique, and my three beautiful children, Joelle, Danielle and 'Nicky Potts,' our micro mini Yorkie 'Dulce' and our new little rescue chihuahua, 'Javier Jaun Carlo!'"
