Local Churches, Others Mark 9/11 Anniversary

Variety of programs throughout Lehigh County dedicated to 10th anniversary of terrorist attacks begin today and run through Oct. 21.

Some of the churches in Upper Milford Township have planned special events on Sunday to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001. All events are open to the community.

will have a program at its 9 a.m. Rally Day for Sunday School that morning. At the 10:15 a.m. worship service, parishioners will have an opportunity to greet and thank local fire and emergency services personnel in the community. These volunteers will be in attendance at the service and will be recognized.

will conduct a special service at 10:15 a.m. followed by a meal to remember all the lives that were lost 10 years ago.

will present the program “9/11, 10 Years Later—What Have We Learned?” at 9:45 a.m. A panel of Holy Spirit embers will present their thoughts on this topic, followed by discussions where all can participate. They invite the public to join them on this historic day.

will commemorate the 10th anniversary with the Rev. Martin Milne’s “sermon I wish I had preached.” Because he “did not have clarity of thought or spirit”, but spoke more out of reaction that day, he will have a second opportunity to preach a message of faith and hope about that fateful day.
