Five Things to Know Today: Jan. 19

School is back in session today after the district's third snow day.

1.  Weather: According to the National Weather Service, freezing rain this morning then a 60 percent chance of snow between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. But the sun is supposed to make an appearance by midday. The wind will be from the west between 5 mph and 8 mph. Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m. and sunset at 5:04 p.m, which gives us 1 minute and 40 seconds more daylight than yesterday.

2. In Case You Missed It: Emmaus Council, Jan. 17, tabled a discussion on an increase in pay for the Borough’s part-time police officers. The topic came up after the KNBT bank robbery last month when part-time officers were shot at.

3.  Coming Up: Upper Milford supervisors and residents meet PennDOT officials at the township building at 9 a.m. today about the fate of Yeakels Mill Road bridge. PennDOT wants to make it one-way, but the township manager and residents oppose that idea.
