1. First Friday in South Bethlehem

Where/When: 25 W. Third St., Bethlehem, Friday, 6 to 9pm. The _ and other galleries will stay open late, along with restaurants, shops and cultural attractions located throughout South Bethlehem._

Why Go: Because this may be the first time in months you’ll be able to wander the streets without a sub-zero-rated jacket on. You can go see the amazing art without hauling the coat along.

2. Thread

When/Where: 6-8 p.m. March 4 in the Lipkin Theatre, Northampton Community College, 3835 Green Pond Road in Bethlehem Township.

Why Go: The documentary explores the lives of five Afghan businesswomen who are striving to move from burqas to boutiques in a land devastated by decades of war and a culture bent on impeding the progress of women. It's the conclusion of a day-long Peace Conference at the college.

Pricing: Free.

3. Fifth of July

When/Where: 8 p.m. March 5 at Civic Theatre, 527 N.19th St., Allentown.

Why Go: Because The New York Times calls it the "wisest and funniest play of its generation.” Set in 1977, the play focuses on a group of college friends who realize life has taken over where their dreams left off.

Pricing: Tickets are $23 and $26.

4. Pre-St. Patrick’s Day Party

Where/When: Join the Ancient Order of Hibernians in preparing for the upcoming March 17 holiday at the Brew Works on the Green, 3400 Tilgman St., Allentown, Thursday, March 3, 6 p.m. until the Irish eyes are smiling. 

 Why Go: BOGO apps, $10 pitchers and $2.50 pints. Think of it as training for the Big (Shamrock) Day.

 Pricing: No cover.

5. Indoor Yard Sale and Pet Adoptions

Where/When: Peaceable Kingdom on Saturday, March 5. The yard sale is from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., and adoptions are from noon until 3 p.m.

Why Go: They’ve been accepting donations for the yard sale of gently used items with proceeds benefiting the shelter. Stop by to see what they have, and if there’s nothing at the sale that interests you,  maybe you’ll find a new furry friend.
