Emmaus Patch Facebook Fans Dream About Skate Park, Dog Park

When asked what they would like to see done with the Meadow Pool property on Harrison Street, about half of those Emmaus Patch Facebook fans who responded called for a skate park, with a similar number lobbying for a dog park.

Well, Emmaus Patch Facebook fans may just have to agree to disagree on this one.

When asked what they would like to see done with the long-empty Meadow Pool property on Harrison Street, they responded in force and they had a pretty clear idea of what they wanted.

Or rather two pretty clear ideas.

And, then there were those who “cast” their vote for one or the other, but offered up an even broader daydream, fleshing their ideas out with comments such as this one:

“Skatepark would be great to get kids off streets, but it could be more than that too.....basketball hoops, youth club inside, day programs and events, etc.”

In additon, there were a few outliers among the respondents who added other seemingly viable concepts to the mix including:

  • A pavilion and sprinkler park, like the one down at the Promenade Shops
  • A teen center (which garnered more than one nod)
  • An aquatic aerobic, and exercise place

At times the Facebook conversation also veered off a bit as to what type of a skate park facility really would satisfy local skateboarders, and a few Facebook fans posited that an area near Lions Field might be a better fit for the youngsters’ needs.
