Emmaus Christmas Tree Lighting Draws a Crowd

Hundreds kicked off the holiday season with the annual 'Old Fashioned Christmas' event, which culminated with the lighting of the Emmaus Christmas Tree in Triangle Park Saturday night.

It was another perfect evening Saturday night for the annual "Old Fashioned Christmas" in Emmaus, as the Emmaus Main Street Partners organized music, horse and carriage rides and special treats like cookies and cocoa for residents of Emmaus and the surrounding community.

Lower Macungie resident Nancy Salomon attended the event with her family for the first time.

"Emmaus is a quaint, small town filled with charm. There are so many family-oriented activities offered, and it is an inviting community. I am so glad we went. It was a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season!" Salomon said.

Carols were led by the Lower Macungie Middle School Cadence Choir, Moravian Brass Choir and Bethel Bible Fellowship Church Orchestra.

At 6 p.m., Mayor Winfield (Winnie) Iobst started the countdown to the Christmas tree lighting in Triangle Park. And to top off the night, Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived on an Emmaus fire engine as carolers concluded the evening with "Here Comes Santa Claus."
