Welcome to "An Artist in Emmaus"

What I'm hoping to share here on my Emmaus Patch blog are regular updates of my paintings and/or paintings-in-progress.

This painting was one I finished this summer. This client wanted me to capture her kids on Lake Michigan. Since few photos are automatically 'perfect paintings' in terms of color and composition, I nearly almost always make changes as I go along. In this case, the little boy had a giant "frog face" decal on his swim diaper, so I took that out. The thin clouds were add-ins as well, since the sky was cloudless--but I tried to keep them sparse since the client let me know that it was a truly "Michigan" kind of image, which meant clear skies and lots of rocks in the scene. In the end, I was very happy with this one. It measured 8" x 10".
