It was another perfect evening Saturday night for the annual "Old Fashioned Christmas" in Emmaus, as the Emmaus Main Street Partners organized music, horse and carriage rides and special treats like cookies and cocoa for residents of Emmaus and the surrounding community. Lower Macungie resident Nancy Salomon attended the event with her family for the first time. "Emmaus is a quaint, small town filled with charm. There are so many family-oriented activities offered, and it is an inviting community. I am so glad we went. It was a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season!" Salomon said. …
Members of the Emmaus Halloween Parade Committee couldn't have asked for a better night for the 2012 Emmaus Halloween Parade. Thousands of residents and out-of-towners lined Emmaus streets as colorful floats, dancers, school bands, fire departments and local service organizations waved to the crowds. Prior to the parade, the annual Emmaus Halloween 5K was another success as costumed runners entertained the crowds as they raced to the finish at Triangle Park. According to parade officials, this was Emmaus's largest parade yet. "We had five divisions with a minimum of 14 slots in each, seven …
“Animals are an important part of God’s creation,” said the Rev. Martha Boyer of Solomon’s UCC. “They are great companions for us and we expect them to be in heaven with us.” The relationship between man and pet is like no other. An animal’s love is unconditional. To those living alone, pets can be a companion or considered family. Some animals visit hospitals and care facilities where children and adults can pet and cuddle with them, giving hope and comfort during recovery.  “We give thanks to God for our animal companions and can see how He shows His love for us through animals,” said the …

Sometime in the wee hours of the morning of April 7, the Easter Bunny hid a bunch of eggs on the grounds of the Upper Milford Fire Company-Western District. Children up to age 12 searched the area thoroughly for eggs to fill their baskets.  Some were marked with stickers indicating a “prize” egg, for which they collected a chocolate bunny. Also, in keeping with tradition, the ladies joined in the egg-hunting activities. The bunny hid some eggs in the wooded section of the grounds, having them search in the field and trees. Those lucky enough to find an egg with a letter on it, took home a …
Warm fires, scrumptious food, delectible drinks and never-ending music kept Emmaus Triangle Park pumping with energy and excitment Friday night, Feb. 3, as the 6th Annual SnowBlast Winter Festival brought hundreds of people into town. Unique activities took place at shops around the Triangle as the D.J. services of Wes Barret of Wesley Works Entertainment helped children and adults to keep warm while they danced the night away. Ice sculpting and ice skating entertained onlookers as the chilly night air set the scene for the much-anticipated annual event sponsored by the Emmaus Arts Commission.

An estimated 30,000 spectators lined the route for the Emmaus Halloween Parade on Saturday, Oct. 15, stretching from Keystone and Ridge to Chestnut and Main streets. As has been the case for the past several years, the annual Emmaus Halloween 5K was the opening act along the parade route. Kathy Mintzer, the Emmaus Halloween Parade Committee Chairperson for the past 15 years, reported that 78 groups had registered to participate in the parade, typical of most years. "It's like you're the bride," Mintzer joked. "You prepare, you prepare, and then in the blink of an eye it's all over."
A group of Emmaus residents took a stand against large corporations and Wall Street today as they joined the many other "Occupy" groups across the nation. Partnering with "Occupy Allentown," Emmaus resident Chris Marksberry, one of the leaders of the group, said he and his friends are "Pretty much fighting corporate greed, supporting Wall Street (protestors), and of course supporting Occupy Allentown. Pretty much the same thing everyone else is doing." Marksberry said they have been planning the local protest for about a week, although he was somewhat disappointed with the turnout. At 3 p.m. …
