Originally set to open in January, the diner ran into some trouble with construction, but now is nearly ready to open. The hiring process is underway, and as soon as the staff is set the doors will officially open. Owner George Draklellis says that there most likely won't be any sort of ceremony to the opening, just a quiet affair, so keep your eyes peeled for the day when the "Open" sign goes up. What's happening with the proposed Hamilton Crossings shopping center that will feature the Lehigh Valley's first Costco store?
The $140 million Hamilton Crossings shopping center in Lower Macungie—set to feature the area's first Costco—will be up for an important vote at next week's East Penn School Board meeting, according to a WFMZ report. The school board will be the first of three government bodies asked to approve a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) plan to help pay for the project. A TIF is an economic tool to help develop a site that requires a large amount of money to pay up-front costs. In this case, the costs involve removing waste from iron mining and addressing stormwater issues before the land can be developed. Ideally, the school district, Lower Macungie Township and Lehigh County will each approve their portion of the TIF. The school board meets Monday …

The owners of The Melting Pot fondue restaurant in Bethlehem have added another unique dining experience to the Lehigh Valley restaurant scene with the opening of Rodizio Grill Brazilian Steakhouse at 2805 Lehigh Street in Allentown. Rodizio is located next to The Tilted Kilt at the site of what used to be a Bob Evans restaurant just off I-78. Rodizio features a gourmet salad bar and rotisserie grilled meats—including beef, pork, poultry and lamb—that are seasoned and slow roasted. As a season pass holder we go as soon as they open, head to the water park and stay for a few hours and then go home and have lunch at home. It works out well for us because we only live 15, or so mins, away. I can't take the crowds !!! Going after 5 is good too especially during the week.
