Thunderstorms headed to Lehigh Valley
The National Weather Service has issued a small stream flood advisory.
A line of thunderstorms moving east was expected to bring heavy rain to the Lehigh Valley today, Aug. 14, and possibly cause some flooding, according to the National Weather Service.
The storms were moving toward the east and northeast this morning at 20 mph.
The National Weather Service has issued a small stream flood advisory until 11:30 a.m. Excessive runoff from the heavy rains will elevate levels on small creeks and streams and cause water to pond in poor drainage areas and low lying spots.
The forecast is for a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. A quarter- to a half-inch of rain is possible. It will be mostly cloudy today with a high near 83.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight, with rainfall amounts of a half-inch to three-quarters of an inch, according to the National Weather Service.
