Tell Us: Will Jerry Sandusky Get a Fair Trial?

Do you think former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky can get a fair trial in his highly publicized child molestation case?

One of the most high-profile trials of the year is set to begin and Patch wants to know if you think former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky will be treated fairly.

Vote in our poll and tell us in the comments section below.

Prosecutors claim that Sandusky groomed boys he met through The Second Mile, the charity he founded for at-risk youth in 1977, then attacked them, in some cases in his own home or inside university athletic facilities.

Jurors will not be sequestered, meaning they can spend nights and weekends at home. But the judge gave strict orders for them to stay clear of any news reports, as well as social media.

One or 2 accusations might get him off the hook, but 10?..Yes, he could get a fair trial, ending in a guilty verdict.

do not understand why these victims waited sometimes a decade or more to tell their stories, shame on them and their parents for enabling these criminal acts to continue to others as well.

Because they are guys and embarrassed. Even many women rape victims wait or never go to the police. Sometimes it takes one person to do it and then the rest follow. Remember the victim goes on trial too not just the creep who ruined their lives.

It is extremely common for children not to come forward when they are victims of sexual abuse. Many perpetrators use threats to keep their victims quite i.e..."If you tell, you will be taken away from your family" or "If you tell, I will kill you and your family" or "If you tell, YOU will go to jail" etc.... Victims will not come forward because they are humiliated...and fear what the public might say (they often blame THEMSELVES for the abuse ) They also fear having to testify in open court about what happened to them. Victims of sexual abuse are NEVER to be blamed......there is only one person that is to blame, and that is the perpetrator himself. MOST sexual abuse cases are NEVER reported. Scary, huh?

I cannot speak for anyone else, but in my case I went from obsessing over it every minute of every day when I was 7 yrs, to somehow forgetting completely about it, until it all came back to me like a flood when I was 16 yrs. Now I wish I could forget. But the person never got accussed and it haunts me. Without a parent supporting the accusation, it is hard for a child. In my case it was a relative.
