Summer Recipes: Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus
Even when the weather is stifling, you still have to eat, right?
Summer's here as of 7:09 p.m. today and few of us want to hang out in the kitchen when we can be outside doing any number of other, more fun things -- even if it's nothing.
But we still have to eat, eat well and feed the family even when it's too hot to eat. The grill is a great place to start, and seasonal vegetables are always great on the grill.
From Tasteofhome.com we have this yummy offering:
Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus
Ingredients
Directions
- Place asparagus on a sheet of waxed paper; coat with cooking spray. Sprinkle with pepper; turn to coat. Wrap a bacon piece around each spear; secure ends with toothpicks.
- Grill, uncovered, over medium heat for 4-6 minutes on each side or until bacon is crisp. Discard toothpicks. Yield: 2-3 servings.
Nutritional information includes 222 calories for one serving of five spears.

You don't put the waxed paper on the grill, do you? The photo looks like it's cooking on aluminum foil.

I think that's a very good question Sandi. I have never grilled on wax paper myself, and the picture surely is showing aluminum foil. I always do my veggies on foil on the grill. Anyone out there ever grill on wax paper?
