Emmaus Patch residents gained a new local place to shop for last-minute holiday gifts with the opening of Rodale’s General Store on Monday in the former Hursh’s Landscaping building at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and S. 10th Street.
The shop will carry Rodale books, organic treats, holiday gift items and floral arrangements. Right now all books are on sale, with hardcover books priced at $10 and paperbacks at $5.
Created in response to customer requests for an easily accessible place to buy Rodale products, the General Store has a decidedly Rodale flare, with a VW Bus owned by Bob Rodale parked inside, adorned with a pair of Ardath Rodale’s ice skates hanging from the window.
A grand opening celebration is planned for January, following this week’s pre-holiday soft launch. A website for the store is under construction too.
Store hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Rodale General Store will be closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1.

After the Grand Opening will the hours change in order to get coffee earlier in the morning? 6 am?

That's a terrific question Chandler. I expect to do a larger, follow-up article on the General Story in January connected to the Grand Opening. I will definitely add your question to my list.

Rodale once again makes another positive contribution to our community. So great to see the improvements to that building and the addition of another business in town. Can't wait to stop in. Best of luck and Congrats!
