Vehicle veers off roadway hitting man in the elbow, police say.

An Emmaus-area man was tossed to the ground recently after being struck by a car along Chestnut Street in Upper Milford Township, according to police.

Joshua U. Donchez, 24, was moderately injured when he was struck at 5:40 p.m. July 5 with the front portion of the car, according to state police at Fogelsville. Donchez was walking on the northbound shoulder of the highway, also known as Route 29, when his elbow was struck by the car near Allen Street.

Driver Brian D. Eschner, 28, also of the Emmaus area, drove off the right side of the roadway, police said, hitting Donchez. Donchez fell onto his back in the grass. Eschner pulled to the side of the road after the impact.

Donchez was taken to an area hospital by Emmaus Ambulance. Eschner was cited for careless driving, police said.
