Pat Toomey: A Day in the Life of Zionsville's Senator

Pennsylvania's junior Senator and Lehigh Valley native Pat Toomey has high-profile appointments in Washington, D.C. and is the topic of an in-depth profile by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Toomey chairs his caucus steering committee and a key budget subcommittee, and, the Post-Gazette says, is "a reliable conservative picked for the exclusive—if doomed—task force on deficit reduction."

The profile quotes Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell as saying Toomey has risen quickly in the Senate by any objective measure. Read the complete article here.

Another Post Gazette-Report—A Day in the Life of Pat Toomey—describes how the senator juggles a busy work schedule with visits home to spend time with his family.

Toomey was active in the recent sequester controversy, pushing for the White House to make targeted cuts rather than the across-the-board reductions that were triggered.

Toomey also stepped up to assist fellow Sen. Rand Paul during Paul's filibuster on drone strikes.

Sen Toomey, even some of us Democrats appreciate your efforts to reduce the unsustainable debt/spending we are seeing.. We understand the eventual consequences of it. .
