Newcomer top Vote-Getter in East Penn School Board Race
Three incumbents, two newcomers win seats on East Penn School Board, according to unofficial vote counts.
Incumbents Charles Ballard, Samuel Rhodes and Julian Stolz all won their bids for re-election to the East Penn School Board according to unofficial tallies from last night’s general election.
New kids on the block Kenneth Bacher and Lynn Donches won the remaining two of the five seats in contention yesterday. Bacher was the top vote getter in the seven-candidate field, based on the unofficial numbers posted on the Lehigh County election results Web site.
Prior to the May primary election Bacher told Patch that “the struggle to provide high quality schools without placing undo burden on taxpayers is the biggest current challenge facing education and school boards.”
As a parent of a middle school student with a mother-in-law on a fixed income living in East Penn School District, Bacher said he has a first-hand understanding of task in front of school board members.
According to unofficial tallies, the vote totals are as follows:
Bacher, 6718;
Ballard, 6645;
Rhodes, 6316;
Donches, 5108;
Stolz, 4648.

I know that he indicated in a candidate's night forum that he would vote in favor of webcasting the school board meetings like some other schools do. This would give much more access to the scool board meetings for those who can't pysically attend a meeting. I supported Bacher since he was in favor of webcasting. Looking forward to him bringing some positive changes to the school board, and not just voting with the pack! Go Bacher!

I believe that this is actually a Stolz proposal that was rejected (and ridiculed) by other memebrs of the East Penn Board of School Directors nearly three years ago. If what Kevin says is true, perhaps Mr. Backer can get more members onboard, if he is truely serious about it!.

I enjoyed hearing Mr Bacher talk about excessive pensions at a candidates night. Congratulations Ken and good luck.

What did he say? And what will he do about it?

The question was about personel costs, and Ken said that he thought the teacher pension plan was excessive considering the salaries and other benefits. This was when I thought that he might be an OK school director, even though he was running on the ballard(let them go on welfare) and Rhodes(tax increases are natural and inevitable every year) union ticket.

At your adult ed. class please look up the meaning of the word ALL. You will realize that the word ALL includes Julian Stolz and Lynn Donches.
And for that I thank you.
