Memorial Day Weekend Activities in Emmaus Patch

Monday is Memorial Day. There are activities scheduled in and around Emmaus Patch all weekend in observance of this important day.

 

Here are some activities happening in Emmaus Patch in observance of Memorial Day.

1. Prayer Service, Rifle Salute, and Taps

Where: At Calvary Cemetery (off 16th Street behind Community Park)

When: Sunday, May 27, 8 a.m.

Details: Following will be a procession to Old Moravian, Moravian at Ridge Street, Lutheran Reformed, Northwood, and Evangelical Cemeteries. Sponsored by the Emmaus Veterans Committee.

2. Veterans Walkway Brick Installation

Where: At the Emmaus Remembrance Garden at the Knauss Homestead (164 E. Main Street near Cintas)

When: Sunday, May 27, 1 p.m.

Details: 28 bricks will be installed as a reminder of the impact our local veterans have had on our community and to honor those who served and who are now serving in the armed forces. Sponsored by the Emmaus Commemorative Gardens Foundation and the Emmaus Veterans Committee

3. Annual Memorial Day Parade

Where: Starts at Emmaus High School parking lot on North Street.

When: Monday, May 28, 9 a.m.

Details: Proceeds along Macungie Avenue, Chestnut Street, Fourth Street,and ends at the Memorial Triangle at 3rd and 4th Streets. Keynote speaker: Dr. Roger Whitcomb, Navy Veteran. In the event of inclement weather the service will be held in the Emmaus High School Auditorium at 9:30 a.m.

There will be 28 bricks, not 7, installed at the Remembrance Garden on Sunday, May 27 at 1:00 p.m. This is wonderful tribute and thank you to our veterans and their families.
