Where do you live?

Tell us about your family.

"I have been married for 38 years to my beautiful wife, Florence. We have four boys - ages 20 to 33 years. We also have a rescue dog and an Indian Ringneck Parrot - Buddy and Squeeky."

What is your occupation?

"I am currently looking for full-time work but work part time at Emmaus Ambulance Corps."

What is your training?

"I am an EMT-Basic. I also have certifications in Basic Vehicle Rescue, Special Vehicle Rescue, Swift Water Rescue, as well as firefighting."

Tell us a little about what you do on a daily basis.

"As an EMT, I assist the Medics as needed, drive the units, as well as handle the more basic calls that we may be called to. We also help with keeping the station clean, restock the trucks, check equipment, and sanitize the units after messy calls. And sometimes we even get to watch some TV or catch up on sleep since I usually work nights." 

What do you find most rewarding about your job?

"I know that we make a difference in people's lives. We help them get through what is probably one of the worst times of their lives. I know for a fact that two young men are still alive today because of the work that we do!"

What is most challenging?

"Some of the sadder calls can be difficult to deal with at times. It can be hard to not take it home."  

Are you involved in any other work or volunteer opportunities?

"I am the Health and Safety Officer for Lower Macungie Fire Department. I have been there for about 18 years now."   

Tell us what you love about Emmaus.

"It reminds me a lot of the town I grew up in on Long Island. I also appreciate the great way all the emergency services work together."

What do you do in your spare time?

"I am a big sports fan, so watching sports on TV and playing Mr. Fix-it around the house."

Tell us something interesting about you that people might not know.

"Despite being on the wrong side of 60 years old, I still hope to become a paramedic someday!"
