Get Out: Five Things to Do This Weekend

We've assembled a collection of family- and adult-friendly activities and new places to try out.

This week we have vegetables, sounds of the season, Bach, historical authors and flowers....ahhhhh. Enjoy!

1. Lehigh Valley Flower Show

When/Where: Begins at 10 a.m. March 2 at the Agri-Plex at the Allentown Fairgrounds.

Why Go: Because in the middle of the cold, gray winter flowers are about the most welcome sight around.

Pricing: $8 for adults.

2. Bach for Piano and Violin

When/Where: 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. March 4 at Wesley Church in Bethlehem.

Why Go: Over the span of both concerts, the Rev. Sean Duggan, pianist, and Janet Sung, violinist, will perform J.S. Bach's complete repertoire for violin and keyboard.

Pricing: $15 for each concert at the door; $20 for both concerts; supper priced separately.

3. An Evening with C. S. Lewis

When/Where: 7 p.m. March 2 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Easton.

Why Go: An Evening with C S Lewis recreates an informal talk to a group of American writers who are visiting England in 1963. They have come to Lewis’ home, just outside of Oxford, and are eagerly anticipating hearing the man who has become a legend in his own lifetime. They are not disappointed.

Pricing: Tickets are $20.

4. Retreat: Orthodox Church Music

When/Where: 10 a.m. March 3 at St. Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church in Emmaus.

Why Go: The retreat includes Divine liturgy, liturgical music and a Lenten potluck lunch.

Pricing: No cost.

5. Emmaus Farmers Market Winter Market

When/Where: 10 a.m. March 4 at KNBT in Emmaus.

Why Go: Because you miss the summer one, don't you...

Pricing: Depends on what you buy.

Regarding #4, I hate to disappoint readers who may be intrigued by the idea of a "Diving liturgy," but I hope they will be willing to settle for the DIVINE Liturgy served at 10am. :)

Thanks Father Damick...making the correction now...that would be a whole different kind of liturgy huh? I am picturing a covered wagon and a bunch of covered elixirs, myself...
