Families with Children from China -- Lehigh Valley chapter welcomed in the Chinese New Year with an hours-long celebration Saturday t First Baptist Church in South Whitehall.
The Northern Shaolin Academy in Audubon performed a traditional lion dance, to the beat of a drum, and demonstrated several forms kung fu. Chinese students from Lehigh University performed a traditional folk dance. And students from the Huaxia Chinese School - Lehigh Valley Branch, which meets at Northampton Community College, performed a dance as well.
The FCC-LV also helped raise money for China Cares, which provides medical care for orphaned children with special needs.
