Emmaus Arts Commission Needs Artists for Rain Barrel Project
Deadline for local artists to submit applications to paint a rain barrel is Friday, April 6.
During the "Community Minute" at Monday night's Emmaus Borough Council meeting, Councilman Mike Waddell put in a plug on behalf of the Emmaus Arts Commission (EAC).
Waddell, who serves on the EAC, announced that the Commission is seeking applicants interested in painting a rain barrel as part of its Second Annual Earth Art Rain Barrell project.
The EAC is looking for five artists to participate in the project, and according to the EAC website, applicants will be asked to submit a written summary and a sketch of their rain barrel designs.
The 2011 Rain Barrell project was designed to bring together art and water conservation and and raise money for the Emmaus Arts Commission in the process. The finished rain barrels were ultimately auctioned at an Earth Day celebration in Emmaus Community Park.
