Emmaus Arts Commission to Launch Summer Strings Camp

SnowBlast 2013 Winter Festival is a chilly memory as Emmaus Arts Commission prepares for its newest community art project -- a camp for middle and elementary school students.

Those who live in the Emmaus area and follow the arts scene at all know that it would be hard to accuse the Emmaus Arts Commission of sitting still.

As soon as the group could check the 2013 SnowBlast Winter Festival off its "to do" list, newly elected Arts Commission President Teri Sorg-McManamon was announcing a new arts commission venture -- The Montero Summer Strings Camp for middle and elementary school students.

McManamon, who also serves as SnowBlast chair, gave the community a sneak preview on the strings camp when she stood before Emmaus Borough Council at its Feb. 4 meeting to thank the council members for their continued support of the festival and the arts commission in general.

"So we had a blast, we had a SnowBlast," she said. "It was so awesome. Thank you so much for borough council participation."

After thanking council, McManamon gave council a glimpse into what's on the arts commission agenda for the rest of the year: the new summer camp, the Art in the Garden Rain Barrel Project, the Student Horror Film Festival.

After the film festival, she said, things come full circle and its time to plan the 2014 SnowBlast.

I'm sorry...what is a "Strings" camp? Doesn't really give much detail for those who don't 'follow the arts' but are interested in what this is.
