Team brings home the gold in “World Series” of its sport.

The Emmaus High School Indoor Color Guard took home the gold at the Atlantic Coast Championships in Wildwood, N.J., on May 1, winning the Scholastic Novice Division with a score of 89.7. Going into the competition, the group was ranked first out of the 60 units in its division.

Heading into the finals in Wildwood, the EHS team was all-chapter champion for the third year in a row, winning the chapter championship on April 16, 2011.

In preparing for these competitions, this dedicated group of eight girls practiced a minimum of 10 hours per week from November through the end of April.

Based on its outstanding performance, the EHS group was promoted to Scholastic Intermediate A Class for next season.

The indoor color guard is lead by instructors Felicia Meitzler, Elizabeth Burnett and Devon Steinmetz. Team captions are Michele Siegfried, a senior at EHS, and Arianna Bortz, an EHS junior.
