Bodies Will Be on Display at Da Vinci Science Center

The "Bodies Revealed" exhibit will bring carefully preserved whole-body specimens to the Da Vinci Science Center in October

The Da Vinci Science Center and St. Luke’s University Health Network are joining to present a Year of the Human Body project, featuring the world-renowned Bodies Revealed exhibition in the Lehigh Valley.

Opening next month at the Da Vinci Center, Bodies Revealed uses real anatomical specimens to take visitors on a three-dimensional tour of the human body:

  • Attracting nearly 15 million visitors in locations across the United States and around the world, the traveling exhibition offers an up-close look inside the skeletal, muscular, reproductive, respiratory, circulatory, and other systems of the human body.
  • Many of the carefully preserved whole body specimens are dissected in vivid athletic poses, allowing the visitor to relate to every day activities.
  • Other specimens illustrate the damage caused to internal organs by unhealthy behaviors, such as a healthy lung displayed next to a black lung ravaged by smoking.

Bodies Revealed will appear at the Da Vinci Science Center from Saturday, October 6 to Sunday, February 10:

  • Bodies Revealed will be available for Da Vinci visitors for $10 plus regular admission.
  • DSC members can see it for $8.50 with their free standard admission.
  • Tickets can be purchased in advance on the web at www.davincisciencecenter.org/tickets.

The Year of the Human Body also will include an appearance of the blockbuster Grossology exhibition at the Da Vinci Science Center from May-Sept. 2013, featured visitor activities at the Center’s Inquiry Island, programs by partner organizations in eastern Pennsylvania, and a public mini-medical school experience produced by the Temple/St. Luke’s regional medical school in the spring of 2013.

Temple/St. Luke’s regional medical school students and St. Luke’s employees will participate actively throughout the year, including service as facilitators of the Bodies Revealed exhibition.
