The Emmaus Arts Commission (EAC) announced the winners of the second annual Art in the Garden Rain Barrel Project and Silent Auction on July 21 during the Community Day Old-Timers Baseball Game held at Emmaus Community Park.
The EAC invited artists to creatively paint rain barrels as part of a fun way to make an artistic statement while educating the community on the benefits of using rain barrels to reduce runoff and improve water quality.
Local artists submitted sketches and short summaries of their intended design and those chosen volunteered their time to create beautiful works of art on 55-gallon rain barrels. The five artists and one student class include Angela Darling Faidley, Becky Hay, Lauren Kuhn, Karen Lyngdoh, Joanne Morgan and the Emmaus High School Art Club, Daniel Intriago (Designer & master artist). The six barrels were on display from June 11 through July 21 and available for purchase through Silent Auction.
Bids started at $100 per barrel with minimum bid increments of $10. The event raised $1515, which will be used to offset costs of EAC projects.
