A recent Upper Milford traffic incident might leave one motorist yearning for the days of blaring car horns and the finger salute.

True, these are impolite gestures and annoying in their own right, but the alternative was a verbal altercation that ended in the victim's window being smashed when the other motorist punched it, according to police.

Christopher Matthew Reed, whose hometown was omitted by police, was driving on Main Road Road W. near Jasper Road about 6:45 a.m. June 8 when another motorist passed him on the roadway that was marked with a double yellow line, state police at Fogelsville said. That other driver abruptly stopped his vehicle in front of that driven by Reed.

Both drivers exited their vehicles. After an argument, the other driver punched one of Reed's windows, smashing it, police said. The other motorist got back in his car and left. No additional information was provided by police to indicate what might have initiated the hard feelings.

The matter was classified as harassment.

Criminal mischief: Reported by a 53-year-old man on July 3; a window was broken at an unspecified location along Vera Cruz Road between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., police said.

Theft from motor vehicle: Reported by a 22-year-old man on June 11; an iPod Touch Classic was taken from the victim's unlocked vehicle at an unspecified location along King's Highway S. between 9 p.m. June 10 and 7 a.m. June 11, police said.
