Ruckus Brewing Co. to Redevelop Old Neuweiler Brewery
Will bring mixed-use jobs and business incubation to Allentown
The Riverfront Master Plan will get another huge boost with the redevelopment of the old Neuweiler Brewery site, ‘Brewer’s Hill’. The site will be acquired by Ruckus Brewing Co., who will revitalize the historic brewery as well as bring mixed-use jobs and business incubation to Allentown.
The new ’Brewer’s Hill’ will reflect and reinterpret Allentown’s rich history as well as serve as a catalyst for the City’s continued renaissance. “As a graduate of Lehigh University, I have intimately experienced the potential of Lehigh Valley and look forward to helping the community continue its economic revitalization,” states Josh Wood, co-owner and principal at Ruckus Brewing Co.
Ruckus’ main initiative will be the redevelopment of the landmark brewery. Ruckus aims to create a complete experience, showcasing vintage elements that emphasize the heritage of Neuweiler Brewery and its historic presence amongst the City’s skyline.
The two more expansive, 40,000+ SF buildings will be restored to further build upon the City’s river orientation, architectural heritage, industrial economy and Eastern Pennsylvania quality of life. Ruckus Brewing Co. will cement this community impact by sourcing light industry, office and retail space, artistic revival, and a business incubator to attract entrepreneurs and small businesses.
“Our efforts are 100% compatible with the surrounding neighborhood and the Lehigh Riverfront Master Plan to promote a pedestrian-friendly commercial corridor,” affirms Mr. Wood. “We understand and respect that the success of our brewery and the overall redevelopment of Brewer’s Hill will run parallel to the economic growth of Allentown – we are dedicated to the success of both.”
